I thought this scene was more romantic than the kiss. It wasn’t pretend. It was Peeta realizing that they are both going to die and he just needs one more thing. To touch her one last time, in a way that means something to him. She’s always had braids, even in the his first memory of loving her. To me it said more than he ever could have to her in the end.To me it says, “I love you Katniss, really. You are the most cherished thing in my world and I hope that wherever we go, we’re together.”
